I’m Back
Sorry for not posting, but things got hectic over Christmas and then I had to make a trip to Orange County California to see my uncle who is battling cancer again. It started in 2003 when he was diagnosed with Lung Cancer from smoking, then after rediation and chemo he beat that one and they found a spot on his brain. Again he triumphed and last month he fell and shattered a disk in his spine. When they went in to plan the surgery they found cancer there too.
Now he is in a hospice care facility for the VA and can’t walk anymore. I spent a few days with him and for the first time since Thanksgiving I got him in a wheelchair for a walk in the sun. It cheered him up a lot, but once he got outside the first thing he said was, “Gimme a cigarrette”. Oh well, I guess it won’t matter now.
The moral of this story is if you smoke quit, if you don’t never start. I have outlived all my family but him because I quit 40 years ago, now it looks like it won’t be much longer and I will be alone.
